Henry G. Erck, III
Collings Foundation Local Coordinator
Plane Sponsor - B-17
Member of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum
Member of the Triangle “L” Society 381st BG

In 2003, my Dad and I became local coordinators for Collings and had our first flight in 2000 and have been flying ever since. I decided to become a plane sponsor for the Foundation in 2005. With this, I feel a great responsibility to do my part in keeping these great aircraft up and flying. It takes a lot of dedication, time and hard work and I will be supporting this endeavor until there are no more WWII aircraft flying.

Having attended the “World War II Weekend” in Reading, PA and the “Wings of Freedom” Air Show in Frederick, MD, I became interested in the Foundation and in 2003 was asked to become a Local Coordinator. Since that time, I have made arrangements for lodging, ordered vans for transportation and have done extensive PR. To say the least, the thrill of my life was flying in a B-17 Flying Fortress.

I am a Carroll County resident and became a B-24 sponsor for Collings in 2002. As a local resident and volunteer, I help by notifying local and surrounding media sources, make up a “welcome” package consisting of crew discounts to several local eateries, help where and when needed during the tour stop and the primary organizer of the Hangar Dance held during the event. From 2003 to the present, Henry, Hank and I have enjoyed and been honored to have these magnificent warbirds visit our community. The Westminster tour stop has become a Foundation favorite for the mid-Atlantic area.
